Choosing a cake should be fun, not stressful. Here is a simple checklist we walk through with customers.
1. Start with the guest count
A good rule of thumb is one slice per guest, plus a few extra. Our price list on the custom cakes page shows how many each size serves. If dessert is one of several, you can order a smaller cake.
2. Choose flavors people will love
Classic flavors such as vanilla, chocolate and strawberry please the widest range of guests. If you want to be adventurous, choose one bold layer and keep the rest familiar. Tiered cakes can have a different flavor on each tier.
3. Think about the setting
Warm outdoor events are hard on cream and delicate frosting. Tell us where the cake will be, and we will suggest a sturdier frosting and a safe way to transport it.
4. Bring inspiration, not pressure
Photos, color palettes and invitations help. We will make a design that is your own rather than a copy, and be honest about what is possible.
5. Order early
Our calendar fills quickly around holidays and wedding season. Two weeks is a good target for larger cakes.
6. Ask about allergies
Tell us about any allergies right away. Our kitchen handles wheat, milk, eggs, nuts and soy, so we cannot promise any cake is allergen-free, but we will do our best to help.
